I don’t remember how many O’Donnell Hondas I’ve owned. Plus, three of my sisters, two neighbors, and oh, yeah, the best man in my son’s wedding. One of the best parts of the O’Donnell experience is the service department. Jeff, Kathy, Steve, and all the great people there, led by Jerry Furr, make me feel welcome and confident. I know they’ll make sure my car gets all the proper care, but nothing I don’t need. I went to one of those quick oil change places once, and they came out with a big list of additional things that I should do. I left there and went straight out to O’Donnell. Jerry had a technician look at my car. It didn’t need any of that stuff. I trust that my car will be safe, and last a long time, because of that quality of service. Also, they are just all so nice. Not to mention the waiting area: a big tv, coffee, a kids’ space, a quiet room, and desks with outlets for your laptop or phone! It’s just the best. Period.

The relation between the Miller family and Tom O’Donnell began many years ago when Margot was thinking about buying a Honda wagon, Tom, in his usual friendly manner, said “Just drive it home, keep it a couple of days –see how you like it”. Margot, being a little nervous, did drive it home and bought it the next day! Over the years we have bought 5 or 6 cars from Tom and still use the O’Donnell Service Center for our 13-year-old Accord expertly handled by Ernie Pepe! I have been with O’Donnell Honda since March 1984. I began my tenure as sales for nearly 9 years, then moved onto Service department. I liked the technical side of the business as technical specs always interested me. I can say working for O’Donnell Honda is unlike any other automotive store. From the very beginning I noticed employees who were already with the company from the beginning. Bob Slaght, Lee Scherr were the veterans of sales. Family type atmosphere with familiar faces help keep us consistent. Since locating to Catonsville Service Center, I have had customers in past who have had to move child seats from vehicles at time of drop off, today we have those very children driving their vehicles to our service department to be serviced. Being part of a great supporting team of people gives us the ability to outperform any of our competitors. There’s a good chance that if you’re reading this, we have serviced or sold you a vehicle, or someone you know has done business with us. 50yrs, Wow! I’m proud to be a part of this wonderful family and look forward to many more milestones to come.

My son, Spencer, was a sophomore in college when my wife, Ann, and I decided to buy him a used car to take back to school. Spencer and I spent the afternoon going to used car lots, but did not have any luck finding something reliable for a reasonable price. We finally went to O’Donnell Honda as our last stop. Spencer and I ended up buying a sixteen year old Toyota Camry. The Sales Associate was very nice and the $6,000 price was right.
A couple days later, I was hitting golf balls at a range before my tee time, when Tom O’Donnell approached me and thanked me for purchasing a car at his dealership. He was very appreciative of the business and wanted to make sure all was right with the car. For the next month, every time I saw Tom he would ask about the car and told me that if at any time I was not satisfied with the car to please let him know. I thought, no wonder Tom is such a successful business owner; he made me feel confident about my $6,000 purchase. I passed this information onto my son Spencer as a good lesson for business practices.

The car was perfect for my son in college and as he entered the working world. The car lasted another 4 years with us, and then our neighbor ended up purchasing the car for his college bound niece.

I was with my daughter Debbie back in 2002 when she purchased her first new vehicle from O’Donnell Honda. It was a 2003 Blue Honda CRV and she still has it today!

Shortly after she purchased her CRV she moved to Colorado, using it for daily errands and to travel throughout the mountains and deserts out West, camping, hiking, biking, and snowboarding. Her CRV has over 176,000 miles on it now and it still easily handles all the back roads and trails the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming and the deserts in Utah and Arizona, and it still rides comfortably in town and on the highways. It is always outside, never garage kept, and still look good inside and out! It has been the perfect vehicle for all her needs and all she has ever done is change the oil and put gas in it. She NEVER wants to give it up!

Tom O’Donnell and I first met in 1972. Even way back then, Tom could foresee Honda becoming the brand it is today.

In 1983 we started working with Tom to design and build a new 3,600 square floor Honda Sales facility and a new 12,100 square foot Honda Service facility to be located at Route 40 and Rodgers Avenue in Ellicott City, where it is today. The new facilities were completed in 1984 and things rapidly grew from that

point on. Over the years we worked with Tom to continually upgrade and expand his facilities, including construction of separate buildings for Pre-Owned Car Sales, State Inspection and Detailing, and a Honda Dealer Service Center in Catonsville. Today O’Donnell Honda has state of the art facilities totaling more than 40,000 square feet and a professional customer oriented sales and service staff making buying or servicing your vehicle a pleasant experience.

I have known Tom O’Donnell professionally and as a friend for more than 50 years now. Tom has always been honest, straight forward, professional, and committed to do things the right way in business and treating his customers and friends with the utmost respect and kindness.

We started buying cars from O’Donnell over 40 years ago when my husband was a young lawyer, our children were being born and I was driving carpools all the time. All three children obtained their drivers licenses driving O’Donnell Honda cars. Now my husband is a Federal Judge… we have grandchildren… and I am a grandmother still helping with carpools. My late husband Phil and Tom were fraternity brothers at Maryland over 60 years ago, and their friendship stayed strong all those years. After driving O'Donnell Pontiacs for several years, we switched to Hondas. And one of us would drive from Washington to the Ellicott City service center for all servicing, enjoying lunch with Tom while car was being worked on. But then the Collision Center opened in Catonsville and we (unfortunately) became regular customers there, too! One time we were there twice in one month! The last visit was less than a year ago! Doing business with Tom and his staff was always a pleasure and hassle-free.

I enjoy O’Donnell Honda for its professional, excellent service. I enjoy having any Honda serviced here for the excellent quality of service that is given.

Let me explain, my old Honda Pilot was in an accident and was totaled. So, I purchased a Ford Escape (loaded), had problems with the wheel bearings, took it to a Ford dealership and I trusted them to put aftermarket parts on my Ford. Next, I purchased a 2020 Subaru-Outback. Took it to get services and the dealership driver hit the wall, moving it! I got rid of it and gave it to my daughter. I took her Chevy Equinox to the dealership and when I picked it up, they told me I had a flat tire and that they would replace it.

In the past and even today, I trust this Honda dealership because they give service that I trust. In addition, they have the greatest service rep. That’s why I came back to Honda. I trust them with my 2022 Honda Pilot for the great quality of service plus my service rep, Steve Larkins, is also awesome and always greets you with a smile.

I was a district manager for American Honda Motor Co. for 31 years and called on over a hundred Honda dealerships in the mid-Atlantic region in that time.
